A Double Taxation Convention between the United Kingdom and the Republic of Slovenia entered into force on 11 September 2008. In the UK, the provisions of the Convention will take effect from 6 April 2009 (for income tax purposes) and, in Slovenia, from 1 January 2009.
On 29 September, the UK and Isle of Man governments signed a new tax information exchange agreement (TIEA) and agreed to amend the provisions of the 1955 Double Taxation Agreement. The TIEA allows the two governments to enforce their domestic tax laws by exchanging, on request, information relevant to the specified tax matters.
